OATS, Inc. Celebrates Clinton County Driver for 20 Years of Service

July 16, 2009

Susanne Arnold began driving an OATS bus for Clinton County on July 13th, 1989. In her twenty years with OATS, Susanne has enjoyed the close friends she has made and the contact she has with fellow drivers and riders.

Susanne’s experience with OATS began when she answered an ad in the paper. OATS was recruiting drivers for her area, and enjoying both driving and being around people, Susanne thought it would be the perfect job. “I think so much of the people I work with - they are fantastic. My co-workers and riders are like family.”Susanne Arnold

Susanne was born and raised in the St. Joseph area and stayed home with her 4 children until the youngest was in kindergarten. At that time, her family purchased a grocery store at which Susanne worked. When the store closed, Susanne was happy to fill the position with OATS.

Susanne and her husband, Jerry, have been married 56 years. They have 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Susanne enjoys the time she spends with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and has recently started playing Nintendo DS. Her favorite game is “Brain Age”, which her grandchildren believe she may be “addicted” to. She also exercises regularly and plays the piano at church.

Beth Langley, Northwest Area Manager says, “Susanne is a reliable and caring individual who sees to her rider’s needs and comforts. She is a joy to work with and always has a kind word or caring thought for everyone she works with.”
