Historical Building Renovated to House Modern Transportation
October 20, 2009
OATS, Inc. is pleased to announce the relocation of their Midwest Regional offices to the historical, newly renovated Amtrak depot. The transportation center, made possible in part through partnership and coordination with the Downtown Sedalia group, has been in progress for more than eight years.
It will host offices for OATS, SDDI and other potential transportation
tenants in addition to housing the Amtrak depot.
Sedalia is fortunate to be able to preserve this historical landmark, where originally
hotels housed the first stations for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. In 1889 the Missouri Pacific Station was built on the site of one of the former hotels. Another renovation was made in 1951, in an effort to modernize the look of train travel.
For OATS, the new station means at least three times the space they had previously. The new offices will also have more storage, including enclosed facilities for up to 30 OATS vehicles.
“We’re really excited,” says Tracy Walkup, Midwest Regional Director. “It’s going to be a great change from our previous location.”
The OATS Midwest Regional offices serve thirteen Missouri counties. The newly renovated facility was funded by both state and federal grants, as well as private donations.
The new address for the OATS Midwest Regional office is 107 West Pacific, Sedalia, MO 65301. The phone numbers remain 660-827-2611 and 800-276-6287.
