(Springfield, Missouri, November 22, 2024) – OATS Transit, a Missouri based not-for-profit transportation provider, announces that they have received a grant from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks - Nixa Community Foundation. The $6,000 was awarded for service in Nixa/Christian County to support rural general public transportation. The funds will be used toward the purchase of a new vehicle for the area.

A grant awards ceremony was held on November 21 at Nixa City Hall to present checks to OATS Transit and several other organizations. Operations Managers Lisa Bailey and Naomi Garner were on hand for the presentation. OATS Transit provides daily transportation that originates and/or stops in Nixa MO, as well as trips into Springfield for specialty appointments and other needs. Transportation is used primarily for employment, medical appointments, day habilitation programs, the food pantry and essential shopping. Our transportation is vital to the Missouri economy, and helps residents live independently in their own communities.

“Thanks to the Nixa Community Foundation, this grant allows us to match our federal grants with local dollars,” said Dorothy Yeager, Executive Director at OATS Transit. “We are grateful to the Community Foundation for their continued support so we can continue being there for those who need us,” added Yeager.
